One of the things that I realise is that, as Filipinos, we normally do not give appreciation for the things that we have or for the blessings that we receive. We have a tendency to see a glass of water as half empty rather than looking at it as a glass that is half full.
Take my case for example. When my eldest son, Edvince, got his end of year report in his fifth form, all his grades were A+ except for only one A, which is still pretty good. The first comment I made to him was, “Why do you have one A, Kuya? Why were you not able to make all of your grades A+?” He told me that A is still a very high grade. And he then proceeded to tell me that one of his classmates got only one A and the rest were Cs, but his parents were very happy with his grades. |
