With the holidays just passed, I think it would only be appropriate to talk about Christmas and New Year celebrations. Coming here as a young child of nine, there isn’t much I can remember about Christmastide in the Philippines, except for the usual opening of the presents and staying up late to celebrate the Media-noche and Noche Buena with the entire family. I suppose that’s part of the essence of the holiday spirit.

It’s hard to forget the early days of the beginning of an entirely new life in a completely different world. Firstly, there’s the hard hitting New Zealand accent – one which takes a short while getting used to.
