drowningIt was just a regular friday morning at my school back in the Philipines and as a regular school tradition, we had P.E./swimming in the early afternoons. I was hoping for a fun, exciting, and an adrenaline rushing time of my life, and that is exactly what happened to me!

My class went up the schools' hill and went to this huge swimming pool for lessons. The boys went to the boys changing room to change into their swimming gear and the girls did the same thing. Since there were more boys than girls, I was the last one to change, while everyone else was doing stretches with the two swim coaches.

When I was finished changing, everyone was already done exercising  and in the pool already.

Since the pool was really long, it was hard to see them at the other end, so I thought I had the pool all to myself. I sat down at the 2.8 meter end of the pool and dived down instantly, but just as my body hit the water, I saw the entire class at the other end and then I realised I made a big mistake -- I was at the wrong end!

It was about four minutes of me drowning (according to my teacher). I felt betrayed and confused knowing that all my friends didnt try to save/help me.   All I was thinking about were songs that I like, food, people whom I didnt like, my crush/love, and one more thing, the history of my family members dying. The uncle who I never knew about, my cousin who died because of an insect bite, my uncle's son who died shortly before I was born, and my dad's uncle who was found dead on the beach .

Then I said to myself, “So this is it? I'm just going to die like this, the next one in the family to die in a tiny accident is me,  I never thought this would happen to me at such an early age of 8.”

I only hope I have been able to give people a lesson to learn from my experience and that is to keep up and stay together with the group that your in. In other terms, no one gets left behind!

I thought it was just a dream or that I was in heaven /hell, but I knew where I was, I was on earth. Still alive and happy to be alive. I woke up and saw an entire audience staring at me with fear and shock. When I came back home, I told my parents about it and they shed tears and so did I. Come to think of it, this is my second life.
