Beach Outing with a Cause.   KBNZ would like to bring you out on a pre-Valentine date…. at the beach.   It is KBNZ’s first activity for the Year of the Tiger.

It will be on Feb 13, Saturday at Long Bay Regional Park.  It is a family picnic and get-together for Bisaya-speaking Filipinos from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   This is no ordinary beach picnic because KBNZ has organised an opening activity that will boost our relevance as an organisation to the Auckland City Council and environmental organisations like Greenpeace. We are going to do a beach clean-up. Parents and their children will work together in clearing the beach with rubbish. This is an effective way of creating environmental awareness among our children. Believe it or not, every year about 7 billion tonnes of rubbish make its way to the oceans that injures the marine wildlife.

The clean-up will start at 9:00 in the morning and is expected to take less than one hour since groups will be assigned in different areas of the beach.  Vice President Omar Albinto and wife Fiel will lead the clean-up.  Both have participated a beach clean-up organised by Project Jonah of New Zealand.

Families are requested to bring their own food and drinks to share with everyone for the beach outing.  If you have plastic chairs and mats, please bring them along with you too.

So see you all on Feb 13.

Filipino priest to be assigned in Glen Eden.  Here’s good news to Filipinos in West Auckland.  A Bisaya-speaking priest will be inducted in Our Lady of Lourdes, Glen Eden Catholic Parish Church on Feb 7.  KBNZ will join in a welcome lunch for Father Reno Alima.  If you want to participate in welcoming Father Reno, please coordinate with any KBNZ officers and watch out for further announcements in the yahoo group.
