LoveThroughSmiling“Loving another person is not separate from loving God. One is a single wave, the other is the ocean.”

This is a quote from one of my favourite authors, Deepak Chopra, which emphasises the unique interconnection that

love brings towards people. My intent in this article is to share the importance of love and how to love effortlessly.

My interpretation of such a wonderful statement is this: When we love someone, we think very highly of them. We acknowledge their positive characteristics and overlook their existing flaws. When we love another person, they become important to us. They grow to be a part of our lives. One could say that we care about our loved ones more than we care about ourselves – hence why we are the wave and they are the ocean.

The same goes if the roles are reversed: our loved ones are the tiny puzzle pieces that paint us into the beautiful masterpiece that we are. Also, it highlights the fact that even though two people are completely different from each other, the presence of love eliminates the dissimilarity between each other and merges the two beings.

So, what is the easiest way of loving others?

SMILE. Turning your frown upside down is as simple as blinking. When we smile to another person, it gets reciprocated (mostly). Therefore, practice smiling at strangers. Show them that you appreciate their presence. You never know, you might end up making their day. Your smile may be the first they have seen in years. I believe that smiling is the easiest and cheapest way to show love to others, and to let them know that you care even though you do not know them. Also, whenever we feel down, randomly smiling somehow reduces one’s current negative emotions. It might be because our brain gets tricked into thinking that we are happy. Who knows. All I know is this: human beings are very good at copying others. So, smile at someone and hopefully, they’ll duplicate your behaviour.
