Hi there, my name is Lorenzo. I'm new here and I’m writing this article to help kids and teens who have just arrived in New Zealand.

Here are some tips I would like to share:

1.) On weather. Make sure you put your sweatshirts or raincoats or whatever that makes you warm beside you. The weather can get crazy. I tell you it’s really and when I say really, I mean really, really cold in winter. It’s no lie.

2.) On school. Classes here start at 8:30am so you can just like sleep all you want but make sure you don't oversleep. Trust me, I've been there. School ends at 3:00pm, so you could play all afternoon but don't forget to do your homework first or else your parents can ground you.

3.) At home. When you’re at home, help around the house like wash dishes, set the table, clean your room because there are no helpers around here. Also try to talk properly and not follow everything you hear because if you have parents that really care for you, they're gonna correct you and sometimes they make fun of you but in a nice way. They did that to me before.

4.) On shopping. When your buying something in a dairy, don't be fooled, most dairies sell really expensive items. Bread in Pak and Save is I think just $2 and in the dairy they sell it for $5 or $4. Now, that's a rip off. 1 litre of Coke is around $5 or so but in Pak and Save it's just $3 or less.

5.) Lastly, when you like act shy anywhere in New Zealand or "NZ" for short, you'll never go anywhere. Be confident. Stand up. Help yourself because your family and friends won't be there for you always. Don't be shy to make the first move. A smile is contagious and so is a hello.

Well, that's it for now. Hope the tips are helpful.
